Jailbreak iPhone 5 /4S: Evasi0n and Redsn0w mum on iOS 6.1.4 pre-WWDC

Jailbreak iPhone 5 /4S: Evasi0n and Redsn0w mum on iOS 6.1.4 pre-WWDC - Leading jailbreak teams Evasi0n and Redsn0w are laying low on the prospects for iOS 6.1.4 on the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S ahead of Apple’s annual WWDC developer conference, preferring to stay mum for now as to what they plan to do with the latest update. After taking a pass on the previous 6.1.3 update sue to its security-only nature, jailbreak teams are now at a crossroads with the arrival of 6.1.4 which minor actual iPhone 5 feature enhancements. But don’t expect either team to make a move prior to the conference, as Apple may release yet another iOS 6.x update at the event.

iOS 6.1.3 was widely believed to be the end of the line for 6.x releases, but Apple released iOS 6.1.4 last week, foiling the plans of jailbreak teams who were hoping to be able to pack it in until the arrival of iOS 7. WWDC will enlighten hacker teams like Evasi0n and Redsn0w on two fronts. First it’ll reveal a general timeframe for the iOS 7 developer beta testing and public release, letting jailbreakers know how long they’ll have to wait until the iOS 7 cavalry arrives. Second, if Apple introduces new mobile hardware at the conference such as a new iPhone or iPad model it may be immediately accompanied by the release of an iOS 6.1.5 or a more comprehensive iOS 6.2. update.

The latter would almost certainly motivate jailbreak teams into action, while the former would if nothing else make the iOS 6.1.4 question moot as it would no longer be the latest release. In the mean time iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S jailbreak users are left either stuck on 6.1.2 or twiddling their thumbs until iOS 7 arrives and the Evasi0n and Redsn0w can get to work on it.
